There's something special about the aroma of fresh pastry straight out of the oven. With just a few spoonfuls of water this Aunt Bessie's Shortcrust Pastry Mix is ready to roll and bake in the oven.
How to make:
Required: 8 tbsps cold water, 1 egg or 100ml milk, mixing bowl, knife.
- Mix the shortcut pastry mix into a bowl with the cold water, starting with a knife.
- Once mixed, use your hands to create a firm dough and add more cold water if still crumbly, handling as little as possible to acheive a light, crispy pastry.
- Roll the pastry out onto a lightly floured surface and follow your recipe.
- Finish by beating the egg and using to brush the pastry, or alternatively use milk, before baking.
