Big League Chew is one of those American brands with a unique origin. Back in the days a lot of older baseball players chewed tobacco during games. The younger kids wanted to look just as cool taking a bit out of there pocket and chewing it during the game. In 1977 Rob Nelson, a professional baseball player, taught about making a chewing gum pouch with shredded chewing gum that would have the same bulge as the tobacco pouches. He and his younger teammates tried different flavours and eventually he found 'Big League Chew' as a much healthier and more fun alternative to chewing tobacco.
As of today baseball players still chew a lot of gum during games and some of the best in the league are only chewing on Big League Chew!
