Home-made Eggo waffles

Have you watched the newest season Stranger Things yet? No? Then you know what you have to do next weekend! It is mind-blowing and was definitely worth the wait. It has us rewatching all the seasons over again because we couldn't get enough.

And of course, it has everyone craving Eggos again Eleven's all-time favorite food. Now at this moment, it is not possible to import them as it is a frozen item from the US and they won't be arriving frozen here. However, we have created a recipe that allows you to recreate Eggos waffles in your kitchen and all you need are a few ingredients you can find at Kellys Expat shopping and the supermarket.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1⅛ tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup water
  • 1⁄4 cup buttermilk
  • 1⁄4 cup vegetable oil
  • 10 drops yellow food coloring

Instructions

  1. Heat up your waffle iron.
  2. Combine flour with baking powder and salt in a large bowl and mix it.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine eggs and sugar with electric mixer for 1 minute on high speed. Add water, milk and oil and mix it all together
  4. Pour wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Add food you Dr. Oetker yellow food coloring, and mix on medium speed for about 30 seconds.
  5. Spray waffle iron with pam non-stick cooking spray. Pour ½ cup of batter onto waffle iron and close. Cook for 1 minute, then carefully remove the waffle and cool. The waffle should not have browned, repeat with the remaining waffle batter. If you want to eat them right away make sure to cook them until they are browned.

  6. When waffles are cool, seal them up in freezer bag and freeze. And now you have a quick and delicious breakfast ready in your freezer.
  7. Just take them out of the freezer and toast them like the original.
